Welcome!

I’m Karen, a Registered Dietitian practicing in New York City. I specialize in disordered eating, and I am currently part of the brilliant team at Monte Nido Manhattan as well as in private practice at Integrated Eating. I focus on nutrient-dense foods to promote physical healing, while providing space for you to explore your relationship with food, movement, and your body.

My Philosophy

I believe food plays two very important roles in life. It most certainly has a physiological role, it gives us energy and keeps our brains and bodies functioning. Food gives us what we need to move, think, and feel healthy. This is the main focus of classic nutrition education, and what typical dietitians concentrate on. And then there is the psychological role food has in our lives. Food can evoke intense emotions, both positive and negative. For some, food is just food. For others, food is a complicated, shameful, and distressing part of life. I believe that the ideal diet tends to both of these roles in a healing way. I believe that we should eat a wide variety of nutrient-dense foods to keep our physical bodies well, but we must also incorporate foods that heal our souls and challenge our beliefs. My goal is to empower and educate my clients so they may achieve this balance and have a positive relationship with food. I believe that mind-body awareness, self-compassion, sufficient planning, and a devoted treatment team are powerful tools on the road to recovery.
